Interactive Brokers (IBKR)
"The pro-grade broker for traders who measure their return to the basis point."
Interactive Brokers is the broker we use when the trade is a real cash-secured put on a liquid US ticker. Founded in 1978, publicly listed, and regulated across every major jurisdiction that matters — IBKR is built for traders, not casual investors. The Trader Workstation (TWS) desktop platform is the deepest options execution interface in retail, and the IBKR Mobile app covers the simple cases. What makes IBKR shine for the wheel is the combination of tiered options commissions from $0.65 per contract, best-in-class smart routing, and portfolio margin for accounts that qualify — which dramatically lowers the cash you have to lock up per CSP.
Best For
Active US-options traders who run the wheel on liquid tickers, want the lowest all-in costs, need portfolio margin, or want global market access from one account. Anyone whose monthly volume is high enough that tiered pricing wins over flat-fee.
Trade-Offs To Know
TWS desktop is powerful but has a real learning curve. Inactivity fee applies if your account is small and dormant. Funding from a non-US bank can take 1–3 business days for the first deposit. Customer support is email-first, not chat-first.
